Arent Fox Announces 2016 Promotions to Partner and Counsel
Arent Fox LLP is pleased to announce the election of its new partners and counsel, effective January 1, 2016. The new partners include Mark A. Angelov, Charles B. Ferguson, Andy S. Kong, Patrick A. Nickler, Mark R. Phillips, and Eric Roman. Eric A. Biderman and Patrick R. Quigley were promoted to counsel.

The Firm’s Newest Partners
Mark A. Angelov was an associate in the New York Litigation group. His practice is focused on complex commercial and intellectual property litigation, tax-exempt bond recovery, and health care matters. Mr. Angelov earned his JD from Columbia Law School.
Charles B. Ferguson was counsel in the firm’s Real Estate group and Hospitality industry group. His practice involves a wide variety of commercial real estate transactions, including the acquisition, sale, financing, development, and leasing of real property, condominium conversions, and related corporate matters. Mr. Ferguson received his JD with honors from Emory University School of Law.
Andy S. Kong focuses on all aspects of financial restructuring and bankruptcy related matters. In addition, Mr. Kong concentrates on commercial litigation and is experienced in representing clients in both state and federal court. Drawing on the expertise of Arent Fox lawyers across multiple practices, he represents Asian clients in all areas and across numerous industries. Mr. Kong is a graduate of Loyola Law School Los Angeles.
Patrick A. Nickler was counsel in the firm’s real estate group. His practice focuses on the representation of real estate developers, operating companies, national and regional banks and finance companies in all aspects of financing, including syndicated construction financing, securitized CMBS financing, mezzanine financing, real estate acquisition financing, loan workouts, restructurings, and foreclosures. Mr. Nickler received his JD from Boston College Law School.
Mark R. Phillips was an associate in the Litigation group. His work focuses on class action defense and labor and employment litigation – including suits for wrongful termination, defamation, discrimination, and wage and hour cases – as well as general commercial disputes. He also counsels employers on day-to-day employment matters and advises employers regarding new legal developments in the workplace. Mr. Phillips is a graduate of Indiana University School of Law.
Eric Roman’s practice focuses on intellectual property and other complex commercial litigation. He has extensive experience with copyright, patent, and trademark disputes, and regularly represents clients in the software, data privacy, and computer security industries. He also works closely with the firm’s media and entertainment group, litigating copyright disputes for clients in the digital media and entertainment industries. Mr. Roman earned his JD from Harvard Law School.
The Firm’s Newest Counsel
Eric A. Biderman has a broad-based insurance practice that encompasses litigation, regulatory and transactional matters. He also handles legal issues relating to insurance coverage for policyholders and carriers. Additionally, Mr. Biderman has devoted a substantial portion of his time to pro bono matters, including family court litigation and not-for-profit public interest endeavors. He is a graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
Patrick R. Quigley was an associate in the Litigation department at Arent Fox. Patrick’s practice includes litigating bid protests, contract claims, prime/subcontractor disputes, and small business size protests/appeals. He conducts internal investigations and defends clients in False Claims Act litigation, government investigations, and suspension and debarment actions. He advises on procurement law compliance, and conducts due diligence reviews and advises on business transactions. He also prepares subcontracts, teaming agreements, and conflict-of-interest mitigation plans. Mr. Quigley earned his law degree from George Mason University School of Law.
