Digital Assets – Risks and Challenges in Modern Estate Planning

Fred and his co-presenters will talk about the challenges that must be addressed when planning for digital assets, the risks associated with serving as a fiduciary for estates or trusts that hold digital assets, how digital assets may be taxed during life and at death, and steps that fiduciaries must take in order to identify, secure, collect, and value digital assets. The panel will also discuss how changes in the law have attempted to address the proliferation of digital assets, and the ways in which those changes have impacted the estate and tax planning for clients who invest in cryptocurrency and other types of digital assets.
