Schiff Hardin Joins Pro Bono Initiative in New York to Ensure Detained Migrant Children’s Safety
Schiff Hardin is participating in a pro bono effort organized by the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) to provide legal assistance to ensure the safety and well-being of migrant children who have been separated from family members after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
“Getting the firm involved was a no-brainer,” Partner Christine McGuinness said, “as Schiff’s pro bono program has supported immigrants facing persecution of all kinds, including helping immigrant children threatened with deportation to remain in the country.”
The pro bono effort will include coordination between the NYSBA’s Immigration Representation, Children and the Law, and Families and the Law Committees, as well as help from local counsel as appropriate.
