Schiff Hardin Expands Trusts and Estates Group with Counsel Christopher Floss in Lake Forest

Schiff Hardin LLP today announced the expansion of its Private Clients, Trusts and Estates group with the addition of Christopher Floss as counsel in the firm’s north suburban Lake Forest, Ill. office. Floss advises high-net-worth clients on estate planning, estate and trust administration, and business succession planning.

“Chris has built many long-term relationships as a trusted advisor to clients, and we look forward to incorporating his knowledge in Schiff Hardin’s growing practice,” said Thomas W. Abendroth, Schiff Hardin’s Private Clients, Trusts and Estates practice group leader. “Chris joins at a critical time as our clients seek answers to questions about new legislation and how it may impact their estate plans.”

Floss has extensive experience with income, gift, and estate tax planning, and preparing wills, various types of trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate plan documents. He uses his tax background to assist clients in developing tax efficient means of wealth transfer through lifetime gifting, intra-family loans, and transfers at death.

He joins Schiff Hardin from Hoogendoorn & Talbot LLP, where he was a partner. Floss was previously a senior trust officer at Bank of America Private Bank (formerly U.S. Trust). He earned a J.D. and an LL.M. in taxation, with honors, from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. He earned an M.A. and S.T.B. in Theology, both magna cum laude, from the University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome, Italy, and a B.A. from Conception Seminary College, magna cum laude.
