Schiff Hardin Adds Seasoned Antitrust Lawyer Jack Bierig
Schiff Hardin LLP announced today that Jack Bierig has joined the firm as counsel in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group in Chicago.
Bierig was a partner at Sidley Austin – where he founded the firm’s health care practice and co-founded the Non-Profit Institutions group.
He represents some of the nation’s leading professional societies, trade associations, and accreditation and certification organizations as well as numerous other clients. Bierig represents these clients in litigation and counsels them on antitrust issues, corporate and governance matters, contracts, copyright, trademark and trade secret matters, and a variety of health care, FDA, and other regulatory issues.
Bierig has represented numerous clients in investigations and litigation brought by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, in private antitrust litigation, in health care fraud and abuse matters, in copyright, trademark, and trade secret cases, and in regulatory and contract litigation.

Some of his long-standing clients include the American Medical Association, American Dental Association, American Osteopathic Association, National Association of REALTORS®, Federation of State Medical Boards, American Board of Medical Specialties, American Academy of Periodontology, American Association of Endodontists, American Health Information Management Association, College of American Pathologists, and Greater Las Vegas Association of REALTORS®. He also advises several medical and dental certifying boards, such as the American Board of Dermatology, the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and American Board of Periodontology.

A sought-after lecturer on topics including antitrust issues, and association and nonprofit law, Bierig has taught at the University of Chicago Law School and Harris School of Public Policy for nearly twenty years. He also teaches in the Masters of Science in Law program at the Northwestern Law School. In addition, he founded the Center for Conflict Resolution, a prominent non-profit dispute resolution organization in Chicago. Bierig earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his undergraduate degree at Brandeis University (Phi Beta Kappa).
