Partner Robert L. Capers Appointed to New York Attorney General Transition Committee

Ms. James selected 36 individuals to serve on her transition committee, including Mr. Capers, who previously served as the US attorney for the Eastern District of New York. The committee includes a former US attorney from three of the state’s four federal districts, two former judges on the New York Court of Appeals, two former State Bar Association presidents, and several other state government and advocacy leaders from across the state.

The committee is tasked with helping to advise on priorities established by the New York Attorney General’s office. “Equipped with decades of experience at the top levels of government and academia, there is no group better suited to help guide the Attorney General’s Office in assembling a team to tackle the most pressing issues impacting our state and country,” Ms. James said in a statement.

Mr. Capers is joined on the Committee by former US attorney for the Southern District of New York Robert Fiske Jr., former US attorney for the Western District of New York Denise O’Donnell, former member of Congress from New York City Elizabeth Holtzman, and former associate judges on the New York State Court of Appeals Howard Levine and Albert Rosenblatt.

Larry Schimmel and Kimberly Peeler-Allen will serve as executive directors of the committee and former US Attorney General Loretta Lynch, former Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals Jonathan Lippman, and former New York Attorney General Robert Abrams will serve as co-chairs.
