Hickey Honored by WBAI with CBA Vanguard Award

Schiff Hardin LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Maggie Hickey has received the 2021 Vanguard Award by the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois (WBAI). The Vanguard Award is presented annually by the Chicago Bar Association in conjunction with local bar associations, honoring individuals and institutions who have made the law and legal profession more accessible and reflective of the community at large.
Maggie leads the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution and White Collar Defense and Government Investigations Practice Groups. In 2019, she was appointed as the independent monitor to oversee implementation of the multi-year consent decree for the Chicago Police Department. In 2018, Maggie was tapped by the Board of Education of the City of Chicago to lead an independent review of the school district’s policies and procedures related to sexual harassment. Prior to joining Schiff, Maggie served as Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor and also spent five years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division, Financial Crimes, and Special Prosecution Section.
Maggie has been recognized on Crain’s Chicago Business’ 2020 Notable Women in Law and 2019 Notable Gen X Leader in Law lists. She was named to Law360’s MVP list for White Collar in 2019, one of five to appear on the national list. Clients have described her as “an extraordinarily talented lawyer,” who “gets to the heart of legal issues very quickly,” according to the 2020 Chambers USA guide.
