ArentFox Schiff Bolsters Public Policy Counseling With Addition of Government Relations Director Kelsey Griswold-Berger
ArentFox Schiff LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Government Relations Director Kelsey Griswold-Berger to the firm’s Government Relations practice in Washington, DC. Kelsey, who has more than a decade of experience on Capitol Hill, will advise clients on policy projects across a broad range of issues, including trade, tax, health, nutrition and human services, and appropriations.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Kelsey to our team,” said former Congressman Philip English (R-PA), co-chair of the firm’s government relations practice group. “Her years of first-hand experience providing counsel to prominent members of both legislative chambers—alongside her collaborative efforts spanning numerous congressional committees—will help our clients and further strengthen our Government Relations group.”
During her time on Capitol Hill, Kelsey has worked directly with the Senate Finance Committee, House Foreign Affairs Committee, House Homeland Security Committee, House Energy & Commerce Committee, House Appropriations Committee, and the House Financial Services Committee, amongst others.
Prior to joining ArentFox Schiff, Kelsey served on the staff of Senator Richard Burr (R-NC), where she worked on trade, tax, commerce, and judiciary issues. She worked on behalf of Senator Burr to advance one of his final priorities, the inclusion of the College Savings Recovery Act in the Secure 2.0. Act. Working in collaboration with outside stakeholders, the Joint Committee on Taxation, and staff from the Finance and Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committees, she helped negotiate language changes that became law and will permit beneficiaries of 529 savings accounts to move assets into a Roth IRA.
Previously, Kelsey served as Legislative Director to U.S. Congressman Christopher Smith (R-NJ). In that role, she focused on health, appropriations, judiciary, labor, transportation, environmental, and natural resources issues, while managing legislative staff and advising on all votes taken by the House. Kelsey also worked on behalf of Congressman Smith to advance his priorities through the legislative process on issues including lead service line replacement, rideshare safety, and reauthorizing public health activities, as well as appropriations community projects and National Defense Authorization Act amendments.
The Government Relations practice at ArentFox Schiff is one of the most experienced, effective, and respected lobbying teams in the nation. The group is both bipartisan and bicameral, featuring two former U.S. Senators, a former U.S. House member, a former board member of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, and a former ambassador, as well as lawyers and government relations professionals who have worked for members of the House and Senate, key congressional committees and numerous government agencies.
