Arent Fox Partners with Georgetown to Increase Law School Diversity
Arent Fox is pleased to announce its support as a donor to Georgetown Law’s Early Outreach Initiative, a program created two years ago to increase the diversity of the law school applicant pool by reaching out to high school students in underserved communities around the United States.
As part of this program, Georgetown Law’s Dean of Admissions Andy Cornblatt and current Georgetown law students meet with high school students to put law school on their radar, introduce them to the idea and benefits of a legal career, and connect high schoolers with law students and lawyers who can offer mentorship and advice. In addition to providing financial support for the Early Outreach Initiative, Arent Fox attorneys will serve as mentors in the program.
“We are immensely proud to be partnering with Arent Fox,” said Dean Cornblatt. “As part of this program, we will be able together to show promising high school students a pathway to law school and a fulfilling career in the legal profession. Introducing them to successful attorneys will only strengthen the program.”
“This is a great opportunity for Arent Fox and Georgetown to work together to address a systemic problem in the legal field,” said Arent Fox Chair Anthony Lupo. “It’s our hope that the success of this program will become a model for future partnerships between law firms and law schools. By working together, we can increase the diversity of the law school applicant pool and create a more diverse crop of talented law school graduates.”
Early Outreach Initiative
- The Early Outreach Initiative reaches out directly to individual high schools around the United States and also partners with national nonprofit organizations who work on access to higher education.
- During 2019 and 2020, the program reached over a thousand high schoolers from over 40 underserved high schools in fourteen cities across the country.
