Arent Fox Announces 2015 Promotions to Partner and Counsel
Washington, DC — Arent Fox LLP is proud to announce the election of four new partners and one new counsel, effective January 1, 2015. The new partners include Karen Ellis Carr and Stephanie Trunk, and James M. Westerlind was promoted to counsel.

The Firm’s Newest Partners
Karen Ellis Carr was an associate in the firm’s Complex Litigation practice group. She concentrates her litigation practice on commercial and regulatory disputes and has litigated and arbitrated a broad range of cases, including matters arising in the areas of environmental, pesticide data compensation, food safety, intellectual property, contracts and business torts, real estate, and construction. Ms. Carr’s regulatory practice is focused on biotechnology, agriculture, and chemical regulation. She has counseled clients in all phases of litigation and has represented companies in a broad range of sectors, including fashion and luxury goods, real estate, construction, defense contracting, health care, hospitality, media and entertainment, and professional sports industries. Ms. Carr has served on the Firm’s Employment, Pro Bono, and Associates Committees and is a member of the Advisory Board for Legal Counsel for the Elderly. Before joining Arent Fox, Ms. Carr served as a law clerk for Chief Judge James P. Jones of the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia. Ms. Carr received her JD from the University of Oregon School of Law.
Stephanie Trunk was an associate in the firm’s Health Care practice group. She focuses her practice on counseling pharmaceutical and device manufacturers, distributors and their customers, including pharmacy benefit managers, on regulatory, reimbursement, and compliance matters. Her practice extends to counseling on drug pricing and government price reporting, HIPAA and privacy matters, counseling on Medicare Part D, developing corporate compliance programs, representing clients in contract negotiations, and providing transactional support to her clients. Ms. Trunk received her JD from the George Washington University School of Law.
The Firm’s Newest Counsel
James M. Westerlind was an associate in the firm’s Complex Litigation practice. He has currently been focusing on representing auto dealers in franchise disputes with auto manufacturers in various federal and state actions and administrative proceedings. Mr. Westerlind recently first-chaired a termination case, prevailing on behalf his dealer client after a two-week trial before the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Division of Safety and Business Hearings. Mr. Westerlind’s practice also focuses on resolving insurance and reinsurance disputes, including coverage issues on behalf of policyholders and carriers. He received his JD from the St. John’s University School of Law.
