Volvo to Test Full-Size Driverless Bus in Singapore
One of top cities in the world for autonomous vehicle preparedness is taking a big step toward that goal with the launch of a new, full-size driverless electric bus that will be tested on public roads later this year.
The announcement is just the latest advancement made by Singapore, which has long been a global-leader in championing shared vehicles and public transportation thanks to its high-density. “This is the type of vehicle that real operators would use and that’s why it is a milestone,” said Håkan Agnevall, president of Volvo Buses. The 39-foot vehicle can carry up to 80 passengers and as the world’s first full-size, autonomous, and electric public transportation option, it’s threatening to make taking the bus cool again.
