Schiff Hardin LLP is pleased to announce the firm is participating in the Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule 4.0, which commits the firm to consider at least 30 percent of candidates for 70 percent of firm promotions, senior-level positions, and leadership roles include women, LGBTQ+, lawyers of color, and lawyers with disabilities.
In the firm’s first year of participation, Schiff received a Mansfield Certified Plus status, indicating the firm not only met but exceeded the requirements of the Mansfield 2.0 program.
“We are proud to participate in the Mansfield Rule again, as we are always seeking out new tools to increase Schiff Hardin’s diversity and help drive the legal community in the direction it needs to go,” said Chief Talent Officer Jill Atkisson.
The Mansfield Rule measures whether law firms have affirmatively considered women, lawyers of color, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, formal client pitch opportunities, and senior lateral positions. Diversity Lab reported in its 4.0 Open Letter, “The Rule’s elements and operations are grounded in behavioral science research, including the 30 percent requirement, which researchers have found is the critical mass necessary to disrupt biases.”
