Chad counsels clients in the automotive, business, consumer goods, energy, entertainment and music, finance, sciences, and technology sectors on a variety of intellectual property matters, involving trademark and copyright enforcement and litigation, clearance, prosecution, and takedowns. He has managed hundreds of US and international trademark portfolios and advised clients on filing strategies, searches, clearances, monitoring, renewals, and opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). 

Prior to joining ArentFox Schiff, Chad was an associate attorney at a boutique Washington, DC based intellectual property law firm where he successfully overturned numerous US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) refusals. Before that he was a trademark attorney with the USPTO, where he examined and managed hundreds of trademark applications throughout the entire trademark prosecution process and achieved a commendable rating award in his first year with full signatory authority. In addition to that, Chad clerked for the Honorable Renee Raymond at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. His previous experience also includes an externship at the USPTO and an internship at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

Life Beyond the Law

Outside of work, Chad enjoys exploring new restaurants, going to the Smithsonian museums, and attending concerts and sporting events in Washington, DC, reading fiction, watching cinema, playing the piano, traveling abroad, spending time with family in California, exercising, and running with his dog on the Mall.
