Alison Andersen, Associate, Washington, DC at Arent Fox

Alison has spent her career representing medical providers seeking reimbursement from commercial and governmental health plans and insurers, and guiding a variety of clients through ERISA and employee benefits litigation.

Alison has extensive experience with health care network and patient-specific contract disputes, health benefits litigation, and claims for breach of fiduciary duty, and has litigated claims in federal and state courts, private arbitration, and in administrative processes. The disputes Alison handles often involve federal and state statutory schemes, including ERISA, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the Medicare Secondary Payer Act, COBRA, statutes and regulations governing federal and state benefit plans, and state “prompt pay” statutes, among others. Alison regularly represents health care provider clients navigating both federal and state “surprise billing” laws and arbitration processes, and has submitted thousands of claims under the No Surprises Act.

Alison also has experience in general complex commercial litigation, municipal and corporate bankruptcy, and in class action cases. Alison is also committed to pro bono work, having secured asylum for an individual, represented a class of nursing home residents in the District of Columbia, advised nonprofit corporations on their potential exposure to tort liability, and helped a medical practice prevail in a dispute over the ownership of a meteorite.
