James focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation as well as government enforcement and white collar matters.

James has broad complex litigation experience at the federal level, including financial, commercial, criminal, environmental, tort, civil rights, appellate, and intellectual property matters. In the financial litigation space, James has worked on matters involving commercial disputes, fraud, fiduciary liability, lender liability, bankruptcy, and appeals.
Prior to joining ArentFox Schiff, James served as a law clerk for the Honorable Gary R. Brown, US District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Before that, he worked in the New York City office of a national law firm.
While in law school, James interned for the Honorable Gary R. Brown, US District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the Honorable Joanna Seybert, US District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Prior to law school, James interned for the Honorable LeShann DeArcy Hall, US District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the Honorable Tanya R. Kennedy, then Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of New York (now Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, First Department).
Client Work
James’s experience includes:
- Successfully defended award of summary judgment before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals on behalf of a national produce supplier involving claims arising under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act.
- Obtained summary judgment in favor of commercial lender against claims for aiding and abetting a fraudulent transfer and breach of fiduciary duty.

Life Beyond the Law
Outside of work, James has a passion for cooking, a product of his upbringing in his family’s Italian restaurant. He also plays soccer, an interest that began in his childhood when he briefly lived in Liverpool, England. James also enjoys reading science fiction and historical novels.
